Spotify is one of the leading platforms in the music streaming sector, and one of the few big ones that still dares to advertise its free mode without worrying about affecting the growth of the paid one. So accustomed are we to its application that it is possible that some of us have settled for using it in a basic way without stopping to look at all the possibilities it offers.
Spotify always has a series of lists with compilations and personalized recommendations. Every Monday, you will have your weekly discovery list to propose new tracks based on your tastes, and every Friday you will have the new releases radar with new releases. In addition, every day you will have 6 daily mixes, which are varied playlists based on your various personal tastes.
But there’s more. In the Search section of your mobile you have a Concerts section, also accessible in the Explore section of the desktop application. In this section, you will be able to see concerts near your city of artists that may interest you. You can change the city to your liking.
From the mobile version of Spotify, if you access the profile of a singer or band, you will see several options. The most popular ones, Follow and Share. But you can also Block. This function is similar to the equivalent in social networks. That is, if you don’t like an artist, you simply block them and you will never see or hear them again.
But lists do not last forever. Sometimes, we change their content. Other times, we delete playlists. And if you’ve accidentally deleted a playlist, you can recover it from the Spotify website.
If you go to your Spotify profile, for which you will need to log in, you will see that in the list of sections there is one called Recover playlists. If you have ever deleted a playlist, you will see it there and you will be able to recover it. Of course, playlists disappear forever after 90 days.
From Spotify, when you click on the devices icon you will see the Start a group session option. If necessary, you will need to log in. Then you will need to invite your friends. Invitations can be posted on social networks, sent via WhatsApp or Telegram, etc.
For such tasks there are timers, which are a kind of countdown that we mark according to the estimated time we think we will need before the music playback is finished. It doesn’t matter if it’s because we are going to sleep or because we are at work and in a few minutes a meeting begins for which we must be all ears.
To tell Spotify to stop playing anything after a few minutes, we just have to go to the track we are listening to at that moment and tap on the three horizontal dots that appear at the top right. You will access the playback functions and at the bottom, next to the icon of a waning (or crescent) moon, you will see the “Timer” option. Now you only have to choose one of the alternatives, such as 5, 15, 30 and 45 minutes, one hour or until the end of the current active track. After this interval, your smartphone (or tablet) will stop ringing and you will be able to sleep without waking up without battery.

There are things that will not allow us, as it will continue to be a premium account. That is to say… You will not be able to ask for a specific song because it will start playing a playlist with that name but not the song or the theme in particular. You can ask for a specific group or artist and it will randomly play their songs.
First and foremost is to create a Spotify account. Remember that it is a free account and you don’t have to become premium but you do have to have your data registered. But if you already have a premium account you will also be able to use it.
Once you have the Spotify account, you will have to enable Skill in your Alexa app, link both accounts and you can start listening as we will explain in the following sections and paragraphs.
You don’t have to pay if you want to use Spotify for free on Alexa or any Amazon Echo but paying has a number of advantages that allow us to save on ads or choose the songs we can ask the Amazon smart speaker and not settle for the shuffle in the playlists, for example. There are several different plans to switch to Premium and its price will depend on a number of advantages and accounts.
